The Netherlands has been recognized as the knowledge center of long study traditions and well-known universities. The Dutch education system enjoys a worldwide reputation of its high quality. All study programs ad Dutch Universities must be assessed and accredited by an appointed organization. So gaining a diploma in The Netherlands is the key for a successful worldwide career.
Holland is the first non-English speaking country, which has been offering study programs conducted in full English language. Over 1,300 Bachelor, Master and PhD programs and short courses are offered nowadays.
Before being accepted to a study program, foreign students must meet the admission of their chosen higher education institution. All foreign students from China must first pass the IELTS (“International English Language Testing System”) of the TOEFL (“Test of English as Foreign Language”) test. At most universities it is possible to follow a preparation year in order to prepare for the official entrance examination. This year will not be extended, so you only have one chance. If you do not pass the entrance examination within that year, you must leave the country. It is not possible to change your study to obtain another preparation year.
Main conditions:
1. You are accepted by an educational institution that is funded or designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands;
2. This educational institution has signed the Code of Conduct and that is entered in the Information Management Group (IB-group) register. A list of institutions can be found at www.internatinalstudy.nl;
3. it must be a full-time course;
4. you have sufficient funds;
Duration Residence permit
The residence permit will be granted every year after having provided the letter of your university that you are still enrolled. The total duration of the residence permit is maximum 2 years longer than the duration of your study. So, if your study takes 3 years, you can extend your residence permit maximum to 5 years. It is possible to change your study if the duration of your new study does not exceed the total duration that was granted for your first study. Otherwise, the application for changing purpose (changing study) shall be refused.
